Mike Barker News

I’m alive. For all of those who don’t know, I moved to Memphis, TN in August. I am attending a “worship and music arts” college. Really it’s a music school that has a Christian twist and worship stuff too. It’s been a little rocky at times, but things are looking up. I know I saw many of my friends when I was home two weeks ago. I love to go home and really feel at home. I wish I’d seen more of you guys, but my parents wanted to keep me all to themselves :):)
I’m going to try to start to update this website a little more, I just don’t have a lot of free time because I am taking 22.5 credit hours this semester. It sounds ridiculous, and it is kinda, but music classes are a little different because they all seem to go together, whether it’s theory or ensemble or whatever.
If anyone still reads this, can you pray for me? I’ve been starting to feel kinda sick.

I’m actually in class. We’re doing PERSONALITY TESTS–and all the TM kids groan in unison. I found out that I am still an ENFP, and Choleric. I don’t buy the choleric part. We’ll see. I’m rooming with John Conklin. We didn’t plan it, it just happened. The room isn’t the nicest, but it’s bigger than TM and it’s got it’s own bathroom. Spent yesterday and today getting settled and making this my new home. Bank account, shelving in the room, washing clothes.
It’s so weird that I’m going to know these kids soon. I’ll probably know every name. Right now I don’t feel like making new friends. I mean, I spent a whole year working very hard at times to make good friends and I am not wanting to put out the energy right now. So, I am just going to let it happen. I know I can make friends. I can, I will. I’m so glad Alli and Shawn are here. It’s great to have people who really know me. To everyone on my TEAM who is longing for someone who would just understand them, I love you all so much. Keep trusting God. Keep walking. Keep your heart soft. God IS faithfull. Keep writing me. I’ll write back.
My parents just left with my brother for Virginia. They’re going to stop through Charlotte, NC to see my uncle and his family. Then Timmy will start school at Patrick Henry College in Leesburg, VA.

Graduation is Saturday. Mom and Dad are on their way. An emotional few days ahead. God, give me faith and peace. You are God, guide my steps.

The band gets to lead worship for graduation…a farewell tour. I’ll miss them a lot.

Hey everybody. I’m heading to the airport in just a couple minutes to travel back to the staes. No long layovers. Nice airlines. God is so good to us. I’m not feeling the best right now, so take a minute to pray for me as start my journey home. I’ll see many of you in just over 24 hours!!! This is Mike, signing off from Thailand.

Had our last day of ministry yesterday. After spending a week talking and gettting to know the students at Rajabaht University, we invited our new friends to a party at a coffee shop that’s been started by local Christians. There we hung out and were able to share about Christ with them. One of the 10 unsaved kids decided to follow Christ. We invited them all to come to the Hope Church, which is the church that TM works with.
We head back to the states on monday morning. It’s crazy how fast this month has flown by. I’ve learned a lot about God and about myself. It’s really been an incredible trip. I’m gettin ready to get my first ever Thai massage!. Soooo, I’ve got to go. Thanks everybody for all your emails and prayers. You are loved.
